A journey started in 1862 from Cochin led by two British tea planters, Robert H. Peirce and Patrick Leslie. An enduring association, that marked the birth of Peirce Leslie & Co. From the setting up of its first Coffee Curing works in 1862, Peirce Leslie has traversed a long way surmounting innumerable hurdles by building strong and mutually valuable relationships, by finding and developing indigenous resources and pioneering various commercial ventures. The London office of Pierce Leslie & Co was opened in 1872. In 1901, Peirce Leslie & Co emerged from its shell of private partnership to become a limited company. The Indian operations soon after became a branch of Peirce Leslie & Co , UK.
Peirce Leslie & Co began a travel division to cater to the requirements of their own employees. In 1948 the team was transferred to a separate company, one of the earliest IATA accredited companies India, offering an array of travel and destination management services in India to corporate and individual clients, travel agencies, and tour operators in India and around the world. In 1970, after having consolidated the operations under the banner of Peirce Leslie India Pvt. Ltd. two years earlier, she became a Public Limited Company with business verticals in Travel, Shipping, Coffee, Tea and Spice trade, Agri-products and Insurance surveyors.
PL Worldways Ltd (PLW) was formed as a separate business entity in 1985, a 100% subsidiary of Peirce Leslie & Co,UK. Currently PL Worldways Ltd has 11 IATA offices across India with over 200 dedicated employees. PL Worldways has a total billing of over Rs. 230 Crores and this has been possible only with the focus on service quality. PLW has always been a customer-driven organization.
